1. brown bromine solution turns colorless. brown bromine is reduced by sulphite ion, yielding colorless bromide ion and sulphate ion. 2. iodide solution turns from colorless to brown. colorless iodide ion is oxidized by iron(III) ion, yielding elemental iodine which dissolves in iodide solution to give brown solution.
